Unit 1

The Sacraments: God's Gift of Life


This first unit introduces the children to the concepts necessary for understanding sacraments in the Church.

1. Sacraments of Creation

Baptism and Confirmation


Through Baptism and Confirmation we are welcomed into the Church and strengthened in our faith.

5. Signs of Christian Faith

• Understand the doctrine of the Incarnation

• Realize that Christians are called to serve others and exemplify the fruits of the Holy Spirit

Unit 4

Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick


Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick are sacraments of healing which are meant to be celebrated primarily in community.

13. God's Love Is Endless

• Identify their positive characteristics and ones that need improvement

• Understand that God created the world out of love but that our first
parents, Adam and Eve, hurt human nature through their sin

• Reflect on how God is a loving and merciful Father

• Learn about the life of Saint Augustine

context of the family as "domestic church." Holy Orders is a sacrament of leadership and ministry.
