Loving God, we need you. You have chosen us and given us the wonders of life. You have loved us forever and shared your life with us. We are not perfect, because sometimes we sin. There are times when we are selfish and refuse to love others. We ask your forgiveness and look for new life in you. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus, your Son.

Let us pray. In the greatness of your compassion, O Lord, wipe away our sin. Cleanse us from our guilt. We know we have sinned, and our sin is always before us. Make our hearts clean, O God, and renew our steadfastness. Do not turn away from us and do not take your Holy Spirit from us. Return to us the joy of your salvation and make our hearts more willing to love you. (based on Psalm 51)
