GATHERING SONG
Leader		In the United States, we sometimes call Santa Claus "Jolly Old St. Nick." St. Nicholas was, in fact, a bishop in Turkey. He was known for helping people who were in need. Listen to these words from the Gospel of Matthew in the Bible. "Do not try to win the attention and praise of others by doing good deeds. When you give to others, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Do good in secret and God, your heavenly Father who sees in secret, will reward you." (based on Matthew 6:1-4)

Leader		As a young boy, Nicholas loved God very much. May we choose always to love God.
All		Jesus, help us.
Leader		Nicholas always thought of others and gave in secret to the poor. May we share what we have with others.

Leader		Nicholas’ great love of God led him to serve as a bishop. May we share the love of God with our friends and family. (Play instrumental music as children come forward to receive their packet of gift tags for use following the liturgy.)
