Leader		Mary holds a special place in our hearts because she is the Mother of Jesus. We gather here today to honor Mary. We pray for her continued protection for all of us.
All		Amen.
READING
Leader		Listen to these words from the Gospel of Luke in the Bible. God sent the angel Gabriel to a town in Galilee called Nazareth. Gabriel was sent to Mary and said to her, "Hail Mary, the Lord is with you! You will have a son and name him Jesus. He will be the Son of God and rule over all." Mary said, "Yes, I will do what God wants. I will be the Mother of Jesus." The Gospel of the Lord. (based on Luke 1:26–38)

RESPONSE
Leader		Mary said, "My whole being praises God, my savior. God has done great things for me. Holy is God’s name! God is merciful to those who seek mercy. God has acted with great power and kindness. God has given the proud a low place. To the humble, God gave the first place. To the hungry, God gave every good thing. To those who love riches, God gave nothing. God has remembered the promise to Abraham and his descendants forever." (based on Luke 1:39–55)

Leader		Mary heard the angel’s greeting with surprise. She was fearful, but trusted in God because God was with her. We ask Mary to be with us.
