Remembering the Saints

GATHERING SONG (Have the children, costumed as saints, walk in procession into and around the prayer space before sitting down.)
GATHERING PRAYER
Leader		We gather to celebrate in prayer those who have lived holy lives. We remember them as saints. The examples of the saints show us how to live holy lives. If we pray and try to do good, perhaps someday we, too, will become saints.
All		In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
READING (based on 1 Thessalonians 5:13-18)
Leader		Listen to a letter from the Apostle Paul in the Bible. "Paul said to the people, 'Be at peace with one another. Be patient. Do not return evil for evil. Seek what is good for everyone. Pray always. Give thanks to God.'"
RESPONSE
Leader		Let us pray by remembering the saints.
All		Pray for us.
CLOSING PRAYER
Leader		Let us pray. Lord, thank you for all your gifts and blessings. Help us always to remember these magic words: "Thank you!"
All		Thank you, God!
CLOSING SONG
Leader		O God, just as you have called these saints, you also call us to holiness. Keep us always close to you. May God bless each of you. (Sprinkle holy water on the children.)
