Jesus most likely learned about carpentry from Joseph. The students in your class will have role models in their lives from whom they have learned particular skills. During a class discussion following Chapter 1, start a two-column chart on the chalkboard. Label the columns, "Role Models" and "Skills Learned." List an example from your own life. Then, encourage students to share some of the skills they have learned from role models. At the end of your discussion, pray together in thanksgiving for the role models listed and the gifts of themselves they have shared.
