Explain to your class that he Bible is made up of Old Testament books and New Testaments books. Stories from the Old Testament tell of events about God's people before Jesus was born. The New Testament tells about the life of Jesus and the beginnings of the Church. Create two columns on the chalkboard. Write Old Testament on the left, and New Testament on the right. Direct students to the Scripture passage on page 117 in their books. Note that it is from the book of Deuteronomy. Have students use their Bibles to find which testament it is in. Then have a volunteer list the book in the proper category (OT). Do the same for each of the following text pages: 118 (Luke, NT), 120 (Matthew, NT), 129 (John, NT), 141 (Psalms, OT), 142, 144 (Luke, NT), 153 (Ephesians, NT), 154 (Matthew, NT), 156 (Luke, NT).
If this proves helpful to your class, you might consider continuing the activity for future units.
