Themes of Unity and Diversity
Playing music can help set the mood for a gathering or class session. The two songs featured below incorporate movement suggestions. Encourage everyone to participate. When people do something together cooperatively, it brings a sense of unity to the experience. It also illustrates that everyone is important, everyone contributes, and everyone benefits.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, " By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:35) Not everyone in the group will ‘catch on’ to the movements as quickly as others will. Bringing Christian love to our relationships means treating each person as if he or she was Christ. This means treating everyone with respect, acceptance, and openness.
Movement Suggestions for "Come All You People"
Children stand scattered around the room. A "leader" stands in front (teacher should model the first time).
