Music and the Sacraments
Sacraments are about celebrating life with God. What better way to celebrate than with music! Connect with catechists and teachers who are helping children or adults prepare for reception of the sacraments. Encourage them to include music at each session. Even if you cannot participate in a session, you can help them select music appropriate to the sacrament under study. Refer to the song listing by level in Music Resources for specific songs from Blest Are We to suggest.
Songs designed especially for sacraments include "With Open Hands," the Gift of Reconciliation theme song, and "I Will Extol You, O God," the Gift of Eucharist theme song. "Anointed and Sealed," from the CD With You By My Side focuses on Confirmation. These are available in the additional materials featured below.
