Unit Activities & Answer Key
Is that a fact?: For many years there were different numbers of stations included in the "Stations of the Cross." In the eighteenth century the number was set at 14. Modern liturgists include a fifteenth station to acknowledge Christ's Resurrection.

Extend the activities for each concept presented in Blest Are We with the following Ideas.

Discuss different types of prayer and share examples of each with children. For example, psalms are wonderful for reflective prayer.

Encourage children to write their own personal prayer for rising or bedtime. These would not need to be shared unless children were open to such sharing.

Have children illustrate a favorite prayer. Display on a bulletin board.

See "A Child's Prayer." Print it out and have children color it.

Select the Joyful, Sorrowful, or Glorious mysteries. (See listings in Blest Are We pages 253 or 254.) Have children write each mystery leaving a few lines space after each. Then have them create their own meditations to help them to focus on each mystery.

Focus on one of the new "Mysteries of Light." (See list on left.) Read the Scriptural passage together and discuss how it describes Jesus as the "Light of the World."

Pray the Rosary together as a group. If time is limited, pray together a decade of the Rosary.

May and October are special months for honoring Mary. Plan with your group a way to include the Rosary in a special celebration for Mary.

Focus on the beginning of the prayer"Our Father." Talk about why we are able to claim God as our Fatherhow God belongs to all of us. Then consider how great it is that we are able to call God our Fatherto see God as a loving parent. How do these two words help make the prayer both personal and special?

Have children role-play examples of forgiving others and of being forgiven. Note that this experience is an important part of the "Lords Prayer."
