It is very frustrating for elderly parishioners to accept the fact that there are things they can no longer do for themselves. Group participants can help with such chores and by having a cheerful attitude as well, perhaps lessen some of the frustration. Young people could work individually or in teams to help with chores such as, raking leaves, removing trash or recyclables, weeding, delivering weekly church bulletins, sharing news stories from the local paper. A phone call, note, or email to someone who is homebound can be a real mood lifter. Discuss the possibilities together, and decide on action to take. Then, a month later, check up and reassess the progress with group members.
