Point out to children that God has blessed each one of us with special gifts that are to be used for our own good and the good of others. Explain that we best use these gifts when we serve others. On the chalkboard, list kinds of suffering such as, illness, hate, war, poverty, hunger, fear. Then ask children to name a person who could help relieve that suffering, such as a nurse, doctor, friend, priest, parent, neighbor, teacher or catechist. Ask children what gifts they feel they have that can help them to be peacemakers. Seek specific examples of how children can be peacemakers.
