Display a globe or world map. Talk about how we are connected to people in all parts of the world. Include people in different places around the world in prayers of petition. Ask a volunteer to come forward and select a country on the map. Say the name of the county selected, such as, China. Then say, "May the people of China have a safe place to sleep tonight." Have your group repeat the petition with you. Continue with additional volunteers. Name the country each selects and lead children with petitions such as, May the people of ____ have (clean drinking water, medicine, food to eat, a home to live in, schools to learn in, roads to take them places, peaceful neighbors, churches to worship in, etc.). Close with a prayer of thanksgiving for what we have in our own country.
