Mary in Spring

Mary, Immaculate Conception, we honor you as the patroness of our country. Help us always to be a caring people. Amen.Freedom from Sin

The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception states the Church’s belief that Mary was conceived free from original sin. The Feast of the Immaculate Conception reminds us that God is involved in the conception of every human being. God loves us and knows us, even before we are born. In a world where the results of original sin are all too obvious, we are called to respond to God’s saving grace by being witnesses to his Gospel.

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is an important time to celebrate the sanctity of all human life. Every fetus has a right to be born. Every baby, whether male or female, is precious and worthwhile. All Christians are called to protect human life, to work against the evil of abortion, and to see that all children are treated with respect and love. The Feast of the Immaculate Conception reinforces our commitment to work for justice, to champion the rights of the most vulnerable among us.
