Grade Level Activity & Answer Key Feasts & Seasons Grade Level Resources
By our very nature we are relational beings. Although we may strive for independence we are, deep down, interdependent people. We are connected or bonded to our families. Regardless of a family's shape or size, a family is home base, the base from which we grow. The relationship we have with our families shapes our lives. Family life forms the foundation of our society and our faith.
This chapter introduces your child to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Through her, your child discovers the family life of Jesus. He or she sees that God placed Jesus in the arms of a gentle, loving mother and in the heart of a human family, a family not unlike your own. In Mary, your child easily recognizes a mother's love. Her love and care for Jesus is a reassuring example of the love your child shares in your family. Jesus' love for his mother serves as a model for all children to imitate.

Make a word puzzle using the letters in the word "mother." Write the word vertically on a piece of paper. Then take turns coming up with words that begin with each letter in the word. Try to have the words relate to Mary and her role as the mother of Jesus. Then talk about how these words can also relate to anyone who takes on the role of mother. |
